What to do if you Experience a Power Cut

A power cut could occur for a number of different reasons. If you experience a regular power cut that affects everyone in your area, there is usually very little that you can do about it, other than wait for it to pass. However, if there is a power cut that is only affecting your property, there may be other underlying causes that you need to consider.

Here are the steps to take if you experience a power cut:

  • Check if others in your area are affected. Speak to your neighbours, or look out the window to see if others still have their lights on.
  • Look on the internet, if you are able to use a device that doesn’t need power. See if there are any service faults that are listed as affecting your area.
  • Call an electrician. If it transpires that it is just you who is experiencing the power cut, then it is probably something to do with your particular property.
