During the winter months, we will all begin to notice, no matter what the size our property is our electricity bill will be rising. Today, we are going to share with you some of the main reasons why your electricity bill may be rising this winter.
Darker Days
One of the main reasons why your electricity bills will be rising during the winter months is due to darker days. Natural light is not entering our homes as often during the winter, meaning we need to use our artificial lighting from lightbulbs to light up our home. This, in turn, increases our electricity bill by a small amount.
Colder Days
Our electricity bills will also begin to rise as our days begin to get colder. This is due to the amount of time that we are using our heating during the day. During the summer months, due to the warmth outside, we do not need to use our heating. This changes during the winter months as our homes become much cooler and we want to warm up. Heating increases the amount of electricity you are using, which then increases the amount you need to pay for your bills.
Festive Lights
This is especially important to remember during December. We all seem to head out and decorate the exterior of our homes with bright festive Christmas lights. For your lights to work they need to be powered. Whilst there are battery operated options, these are not as impressive. So most opt for plug-in lights. These use the electricity from our homes that will need to be paid for.
These are three of the main reasons why our electricity bills will increase during the winter months. It is important to note that some electricity providers do allow you to pay more each month during the summer giving you credit. This can then be used to make your bill slightly cheaper during the winter months.
